ENS Maintenance: Expect Service Interruptions

E-mail Print PDF

This week (Dec. 14th - Dec. 18th) the Entity Name System is being rolled out on its new production platform.

Version 2.0 of the ENS has been successfully deployed and verified on its staging environment at the end of November, and is now being rolled out on its new home.

The new production platform of the Entity Name System, generously provided by the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, consists of 10 high-level servers that form the cluster infrastructure for operating the ENS web services and frontends. This will ensure stable operations for including more external parties into the development of beta tests and pilots.

During the period of Dec. 14th - Dec. 18th, 2009, this roll-out will likely cause interruptions for users of version 1.1 of the ENS, particularly due to DNS entries that have to be updated, which usually takes up to several days to show the desired effect. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Documentation and migration information for ENS V2.0 will be made available in the near future, please stay tuned.
